- No Single-Use Plastics: We have eliminated all single-use plastics and minimize plastic use in any form across our property.
- Renewable Energy: Our lodge is powered 100% by renewable energy sources.
- Zero Waste Goal: We are on a journey to become a zero-waste facility, ensuring that all waste is responsibly managed and minimized.
- Carbon Negative: Through active carbon sequestering initiatives, we are proud to be a carbon-negative lodge. Guests can learn more on site about our carbon project and participate in planting endeavors to restore and rewild areas of the Soutpansberg region that are degraded.
- Biodiversity Preservation: The Soutpansberg region boasts more biodiversity than all of Europe, with over 300 species of flora and fauna recorded. We are dedicated to protecting this critical habitat and ensuring its preservation for generations to come.
- Carbon Sequestration: As a Verra Registered Carbon Project we expect to sequester over 100,000 tons of additional carbon from the atmosphere each year by planting and rewilding the mountain. Our mission is to not only protect this special region but to restore it regeneratively contributing to our planet’s fight to combat the effects of Co2 emissions.
CONSERVATION PARTNERSHIPS:
- Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT): We work in partnership with EWT to protect endangered species and critical biodiversity in the Soutpansberg mountains.
- Panthera Leopard Project: In conjunction with the Panthera Leopard Project we track and record the movement of the leopards across the mountain range, to ensure the health of the leopard population and to study their habits and behavior.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT:
- Job Creation: We have created over 100 new jobs on the mountain, providing employment and training opportunities for local residents.
- Supporting Local Businesses: By sourcing produce and goods from local farmers and businesses, we support the local economy and reduce our environmental footprint.
