Starlit Retreat

Section texture intro

Where you will stay

Sleep beneath the heavens

Perched for the widest possible sweep of night sky, the Starlit Retreat opens fully to the heavens. A retractable roof and open-air deck turn every evening into a private planetarium — the Milky Way close enough, it seems, to reach up and touch.

A roof that opens to the sky

Draw back the roof from the warmth of your bed and let the constellations wheel overhead. When the mountain air turns cool, close it again with a touch and drift off beneath a canopy of glass.

Come morning, the first light of the Soutpansberg finds you before any alarm ever could.

Afterdark

An evening under open sky

Dinner is served on the deck as the first stars appear. Later, an astronomer points out the southern constellations, and the fire is stoked for one last glass before the long, star-lit quiet of the night.

We came for one night in the Starlit Retreat and quietly rearranged the rest of the trip to stay a second.
