100 journeys into the wild: join us in restoring the forgotten mountain

Nature

In truth, Few & Far Luvhondo didn’t begin with hospitality in mind. The dream at the heart of this place is one of restoration, and that’s how our 100 Journeys campaign came to be.

When we first walked the red dirt of the Soutpansberg, we found a landscape fractured by historic overgrazing. We found ancient forests clinging to quartzite cliffs and valleys emptied of the herds that once shaped them. Our mandate was clear: bring the wildlife home.

Protecting this ecosystem is gritty, physical work. We sweep the undergrowth for snares, pull invasive saplings and pack dense brush to guide rushing water. We track leopard through the thickets and prepare the ground for the return of the rhino.

The land demands action. In response, we are launching a direct intervention: 100 Journeys Into the Wild.

For every journey booked before the end of 2026, US$100 will go directly to the newly established Few & Far Foundation. One hundred journeys translate into US$10,000 of protection for the Soutpansberg ecosystem.

To multiply this momentum, the Few & Far Foundation will match every additional dollar gifted by our guests, travel advisers and friends, up to an additional $10,000.

The mechanics of rewilding

Your contributions will drive ecological action pushing us towards our 50-year commitment to protect 100 000ha.

Here’s what your contributions can achieve:

  • Securing the front line: a $10,000 contribution pays the annual salary of a local wildlife ranger who walks the snare lines at dawn, or secures a thermal drone to guide our anti-poaching units through the bushveld.
  • Building the rhino stronghold: a $25000 contribution funds the heavy timber boma required to safely reintroduce rhino to the savannah. We cannot simply drop a highly stressed, massive animal onto unfamiliar soil. This enclosed zone will allow the rhinos to de-stress and safely adapt to the climate before they roam free.
  • Returning the herds: a $15000 fund pays for the veterinary care, transport crates and logistics required to physically relocate species such as pangolin, oryx and sable.
  • Clearing the earth: a $7500 contribution pays the teams who remove invasive plants from critical habitat zones. This gives indigenous flora the space to regenerate, building our capacity to sequester 60000 tonnes of carbon annually.

With your support, Few & Far Luvhondo can become a model of regenerative restoration where biodiversity thrives, the health of the land is protected, and wildlife returns home. If this work resonates with you, we would be honored to begin a conversation.

Restoration is not fast. But it is possible and it begins with people who care.
